THE ARTS

The arts play an important role in the balanced life of Trafalgar Castle School students.

Music, drama and fine art are not superficial trimmings but rather key elements of an educated mind and the whole self.

Through our integrated Arts programs, our students gain a fuller understanding of human culture and discover new ways of thinking and seeing the world. Whether through vocal and instrumental music, drama, dance, photography or visual art, our students’ passon and talent know no bounds.

“Being a member of the Castle Singers and involved in vocal music has truly been transformative for me. It’s provided a supportive community where I feel people have my back with something I feel vulnerable doing and it’s given me the opportunity to perform and express myself in ways I never thought possible. The camaraderie within the group has had a profound impact on my life, both musically and personally.”

Sayde S., Senior School Student

“At Trafalgar, our artistic pursuits are not just about creating beautiful works of art. We believe in nurturing creative confidence and authenticity in each student. Through Visual Arts, they emabark on a journey aligned with our values, embracing the creative process with play, experimentation and prototyping.

They delve into design thinking, fostering an entrepreneurial spirit and empathy for others’ perspectives. In the studio, students cultivate self awareness as they express themselves and communicate ideas, collaborating with peers to solve complex problems. They develop an appreciation for the arts and the ability to envision, plan and bring their ideas to life  — whether individually, in design teams or through school-wide projects.”

It’s In the Research

Research shows that an arts education develops intellect as much as inter-cultural understanding. The creative process in the Arts boosts our students’ sensory, attentional, cognitive, emotional and motor capabilities. Not to mention developing their creative problem-solving skills (one of the most in-demand mental skills today), all of which enhance academic learning.

Improvement in math, science and language have been noted in students who play music, engage in drama and work in the fine arts.
