Students compete in Ontario Music Festivals Piano Finals

Trafalgar Grade 11 students Ria and Ritika recently participated in the Piano Provincial Finals with the Ontario Music Festivals Association (OMFA) in St. Catherine’s.

OMFA is the umbrella body for community Music Festivals in the province. Member festivals of the OMFA  share the mutual objective of providing performance and competition opportunities for young artists, with professional adjudicators offering assessment, helpful critiques and workshops.

Ria and Ritika’s parents, Rachana and Samir, describe the event as a fantastic experience. “They were competing with the best pianists in Grade 10 in the province!” Ritika was awarded a level of finalist in Class 16003: Classical Piano – Solo – Level 10 and Ria was awarded a level of Participant in the same category.

Rachana and Samir share how grateful they are for the support their daughters have received from Trafalgar music faculty member Mr. Smerdon. “We would like to take this opportunity to thank [Mr. Smerdon] for being a constant source of encouragement and inspiration to do their best!”

Though the timing of this competition was not ideal falling in the middle of the exam time, both Ria and Ritika remained dedicated to their studies and performed well at the competition. Congratulations!
